Getting Started
With a few simple moves we'll have you and your family set up in no time. We've created a few cheat sheets to help out.
To try OnlineFamily.Norton for yourself, just go to the OnlineFamily.Norton site. From there, you can create your family account, set up your children’s profiles, and adjust your settings. In just a few minutes, your account will be ready to go.
If you already have a Norton Account, you may already be set up for OnlineFamily.Norton. If not, just follow these simple steps:
- Choose a Screen Name for your family
- Select a Personal Avatar
- Decide on a password
- Read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
- Hit “Set Up Account”
- Set up your kids’ profiles by entering their names, ages, and selecting their avatars
- Install Norton Safety Minder on each computer that your children use
Now you’re ready to begin your OnlineFamily.Norton journey. From here you can set up each child’s profile, select your settings, and download your Norton Safety Minder.
Make individual profiles for your kids
Your kids can create their own space on the Web. You can work with them to personalize their profile so that they feel a part of the program. They can choose a name, an Avatar, and give their input.
Tailor Each Child’s Profile Settings
You can tailor each child’s profile settings, from how long they spend on the computer to which sites are on or off limits.
Install the Norton Safety Minder
The Norton Safety Minder reports your child’s Internet activity to the OnlineFamily.Norton site where you can view each child’s profile and receive alerts if anything looks strange.

Want to get started?
First, register an account. It’s fast and easy. If you’ve used one of our Norton products, then you might already have an account. If not it only takes about two minutes to create your own.
Accessing the OnlineFamily.Norton Website
When you access the OnlineFamily.Norton site, you can view each child’s Internet activities at a glance. Away from your desk? You can access your account from anywhere you are—all you need is the Web.
OnlineFamily.Norton Access
OnlineFamily.Norton recognizes your children online by their user account. So each child should have a separate user account on the computer.
For information on setting up an individual user account for your child in Windows or Mac, go here.
After setting up your child’s account and downloading Norton Safety Minder, go to the OnlineFamily.Norton site and link the user account with your child’s screen name.
How do you link a user account to OnlineFamily.Norton?
- In the Connection to the Web site Was Successful dialog box, choose a Windows user account on the right.
- On the right side, click the list and choose a screen name of the child that you want to associate with. Each list displays all the screen names of the children that you added to OnlineFamily.Norton.
- Click DONE.
- In the Confirmation dialog box, click OK.
Now you’re ready to moderate your family’s OnlineFamily.Norton account, and to experience first-hand what peace of mind feels like.
